Green Building Construction and Consulting
Green building principles help to reduce the negative impact on the planet by using less water energy and resources utilizing renewable energy sources, eco friendly materials and reducing waste. Modern green builders are creating homes that are better built, healthier and more durable for their home owners.
LEED
LEED ( Leadership in energy and environmental design) is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. LEED provides a framework covering seven main areas, sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, innovation in design process and regional priority. The more points you earn in each category the higher your LEED rating. There are four levels of LEED certifications, Certified (40-49 pts.), Silver (50-59 pts.), Gold (60- 79 pts.) and Platinum (80 + pts.) Sustainable builders has an in house LEED green associate to facilitate a LEED certified project.
Passive House
Passive house is a world wide movement in the green building space in which the buildings are 90% more energy efficient than code built building at an expense of 10-15% more. Many passive houses can achieve net zero energy, the houses power need are meet 100% by on site renewal energy. Passive house principles are solar orientation, high insulation, high performance windows, air tight enclosure, and balanced ventilation with heat recovery. Performance based tests such as blower door, thermal imaging, etc. ensure a measurable better built home!
